The POD Network offers grants and fellowships to support educational development professionals in their work and encourage the evolution of the educational development field by generating new knowledge that promotes equity-minded, effective teaching and transformative learning.

Conference Fellowships & Travel Grants

The POD Network is committed to ensuring equitable access to its annual conference through a variety of financial assistance opportunities. These programs include fellowships and travel grants, each designed to support participation by covering the conference registration fee at the early-bird rate and providing a one-year POD Network membership. Some grants also offer additional funding for travel expenses, up to $1,800 per person. These opportunities aim to reduce financial barriers and foster a more inclusive and diverse community of educational developers and academic leaders.

Explore these programs to join us at this year’s conference and engage in meaningful learning, networking, and collaboration.

Grants

The POD Network offers monetary grants related to the scholarship of educational development and to diversity, equity and inclusion. In early spring, the Scholarship Committee administers and manages the application process for Research Grants; and, in early summer, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee invites applications for DEI mini-grants.

Research Grants

POD Network Research Grants support the advancement of evidence-based research that generates new knowledge in educational, instructional, and organizational development, including the preparation of future faculty. Aligned with our commitment to advancing effective teaching and transformative learning, we welcome proposals that address equity and justice in higher education. Research projects may build on existing programs or launch new initiatives, with the grant supporting work over a one-year period. This program reflects the POD Network’s dedication to fostering innovative, impactful scholarship that drives meaningful change in educational development.

We encourage applications from individuals spanning diverse pedagogical perspectives and lived-experiences.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Mini-Grants

The Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education (POD)’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee enthusiastically invites applications for the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Educational Development Mini-Grant program.

One of the cross-cutting priorities of the POD Network’s strategic plan is to advance inclusion, diversity, belonging, equity, and accessibility across the organization and throughout the field of educational development. As stated on the POD website, “[t]his priority reflects member priorities, a strong focus at many post-secondary institutions, and the recognition that progress toward equity requires great intentionality in order to reverse marginalization of historically underserved and underrepresented populations at all levels.”

This program serves to provide seed funding for educational developers who are from underrepresented groups or who work at traditionally underrepresented institutions to conduct research projects, resource development, or programming that focuses on advancing equity and inclusion, and dismantling racism in its many forms, especially as it relates to the teaching and learning environment.
