Looking toward the coming weeks and months from the perspective of a quickly receding summer, I wonder, like many of you, how to leverage the precious remaining hours—that is, how to use them to maximum advantage both to prepare for what’s ahead and to dedicate a bit of time for restoration right here and now.  And as I think about that daunting challenge, what comes to mind is our next POD Conference, which will be held in Dallas November 5-9.  Our Conference Team colleagues—Allison Boye, Jake Glover, Bill Watson, and David Sacks—have been deep at work preparing a rich experience, one that asks us again and again to pause and consider how we can leverage our resources, our stores of knowledge and experience, our communities—including this generous professional network—, and our heart to stay the course, even as we often have to find ways to do more with less.  Or to live and work differently, in a technology-infused 21st century that makes different demands upon and offers different rewards for our attention—a field of inquiry our plenary speaker, Dr. Cathy Davidson, has charted with the fervor of an explorer.  Whether you are a POD veteran or someone new to the organization or to educational development, we welcome you and hope you will join us for what promises to be a thought-provoking and valuable experience.
